Pre-emptive Plexus2 is an online tool which allows you to administer, maintain and customise your site as you require. The features allow you to edit the content on the pages, change pictures, upload files and video, add and remove pages and send bulk e-mails to your subscribers. The easy-to-use Administration console sits behind the site and allows you to administer the site, all online, without the need for specialized software. This enables you to provide your customers with an ever-changing, dynamic site which will keep them returning.

The features of Plexus include:

• An online web page editor.
• The ability to add and remove pages.
• e-commerce facilities, with a shopping cart and order processing with the ability to accept online credit card payments using the merchant facilities that you have in place with your bank or other providers such as PayPal.
• Contact Management System with the facilities to send out bulk e-mails, such as newsletters and have customers subscribe to your online database through your web site.
• Additional Facilities such as Photo Galleries, News Items, Online Polling, Comprehensive Site Searching and Calendar of Events.

Each facility is outlined in more detail below:

The Plexus Web Page Editor sits on the web server and is attached to your web site and accessed by logging into the Administration console. When you are logged on to the Plexus site, an Edit button is displayed next to the name of each page. When clicked on, this opens the page up in a viewing window displaying the editable regions on the page. When the Edit button at the bottom of an editable region is clicked on, it will open that area up in the Editor.

Special benefits in this facility are:

• You will be able to select text, tables, rows, columns and cells within tables, hyperlinks and graphics and images and alter the properties of all of them. For example, if you have a table on the page with an image in one column and text in the second column in rows going down the table - and you wish to remove one row and insert two new rows - you simply remove the row with the content you don't want, then click on the Insert Row button to add new rows to the table. You can then insert new pictures and text into the new cells.
• All of the software and image uploading facilities are included in Plexus, so there is no need to purchase expensive web site authoring tools and FTP uploading software.
• You can keep your content current without the expense of employing a web designer each time you wish to update your site.
• The software allows you to edit the pages from any computer in the world with internet access through Microsoft Explorer.

This option integrates with the online administration facility which sits behind the site and is accessed through the Plexus administration console by entering your username and password into the appropriate boxes.

It will allow you to easily add and removes pages while automatically building the navigation system. The navigation system will have links to existing pages, which will be formatted as Text on buttons. You can either add new pages as top level links, which will appear as new buttons on the navigation bar, or as sub pages to the top level links, which will display on flyout menus that appear when you hold your mouse over the navigation links (example right).
When a new page is added, the Administrator can select the preferred layout of the page from the layout of the existing pages.

The Plexus e-commerce template will allow you to add, modify and remove products, suppliers and manufacturers - including pictures, description and price. The Administration facility is very easy to use. You simply fill in forms to enter the details of suppliers and their items.

Pre-emptive Strike will design a page on the web site that uses ‘codes' to lay out the product information. For example, in one cell on the page, the code for the product, plus a picture, its price, varieties and so on, will be displayed. That information is pulled from the database and details go into relevant areas: The name goes in the ‘name' field; the picture goes in the ‘picture' field; and so on.

Effectively, there is one page laid out in the preferred way - and each time a product is selected, the information on that page changes. The way the page is displayed can be changed by simply moving the codes around on that page. The e-commerce template can be opened up in the Online Editor and the codes shifted around to make the information appear in the desired manner. It is totally customizable and changeable.

The template includes shopping cart facilities, to allow shoppers to select items - then processing of the order in a secure environment. When shoppers have finished selecting items, they then click on the Submit Order button. This will display a page detailing the products, with the price of each and the total cost. It will also ask them to fill in details such as their name, address, phone, e-mail etc. If they are happy with their selection, they then click on the Process Order button. The customer has the option of selecting their preferred payment method. These will be either direct deposit, credit card (using either PayPal or a payment gateway) or by sending a cheque/money order.

Pre-emptive Plexus allows you to send e-mail messages, such as an online newsletter, to your customers with little effort and no fuss. This is a very powerful business tool – we create a page on your web site where people can subscribe through the web site and you can build a database of targeted potential customers – you can also enter contacts into the database manually through the administration facility. You can create groups (as many as you want), then assign subscribers to certain groups - allowing you to target your message to particular groups. Alternatively, you can send a message to an individual subscriber (such as a personal birthday greeting) or to all of your subscribers (such as notification of an event).

You have the option of sending just a text message - or you can have a page in your web site, that is not actually displayed on the site, and attach it to the message so that the page (along with images and text all nicely formatted) appear in the message area of the recipient's e-mail box – perfect for a regular newsletter. This is a much more cost-effective way of keeping in touch with your students and parents, as it doesn't cost anything to send out an email to everyone – and you can send them out as often as you like – it is all included in the monthly cost of Plexus.

When subscribers fill in their personal details and ask to be added to your mailing list, their details are automatically included. As owner of the site you can also manually insert contacts through the Administration console. The e-mail you send includes an Unsubscribe feature, which allows recipients to opt out of the mailing list if they wish.

Included in the monthly charge for Pre-emptive Plexus is the web site and database hosting. Our secure web server includes the entire database infrastructure to support the site - and any additional or custom features that you require.

Additional Facilities

 The Photo Gallery allows you to display thumbnail images on a gallery page which then automatically link to a larger version of the image. The administration console provides the facility to create an object for each image by way of a form - which details the small image file and large image file (both of which are uploaded from your computer), a description and any other details that you would like to display for each image. You can then lay out the gallery page and large image page any way you want to display the images and information which is pulled from the database.

There are two ways of displaying a photo gallery. The first displays automatic thumbnails on a page which when the mouse is held over, a large version of the image pops up (example to the left). For this option, you only need to upload 1 version of the image – the large one. The thumbnail is automatically created from this image and displayed on the page. 

The other option is a sliding thumbnail bar which can scroll through the thumbnails and if you hold your mouse over one of the small images, a larger version of it is displayed above (as in the Warren Bellette example right). For this option you need to upload both a formatted thumbnail and large version of the image.

The News Items facility will be accessed by your designated administrator of the site. A form is displayed into which details of the news item are entered: Title, body text, the person to contact for further information and contact details. The form is then submitted.

Current news items will be displayed on the News page and the first 5 (or number of your choice) will be displayed on the home page, showing the heading with a link to a page where that item is displayed in full. You can have more than one news item - you can include newsletters, reports and so on.

Included in the Administration facility is the ability to type in your Google Analytics Site Reference number. You will need to register your web site with Google Analytics to allow you to track visitors to your web site and many other useful features. When you sign up for Google Analytics, a site number is assigned to your web site. There is a box for you to type this number into in the Administration and the code that Google Analytics uses to track your web site is automatically added to the bottom of each of the pages in your site when you publish them.

Plexus not only gives you the flexibility to allow you to update your own web site, it is also very affordable!
